Jason Harris, the inaugural PDRA Pro Nitrous Champion, has retired his tried-and-true Firebird dragster, and has chosen his next speed demon, according to Dragzine.
The latest beast will be built around the 2016 C7 Corvette Stingray, and Harris said he will continue to partner up with Boone Racing and Robert Hayes Motorsports.
Much like the now-retired Firebird Pro Nitrous dragster, which has seen over 1,000 runs in its lifetime, the 2016 Corvette dragster will sport the same “Racing Red” paint hue.
Harris said it was time for a fresh start.
“The Firebird is a great car and I’m going to hang on to it, but it’s got well over 1000 runs on it, so it’s time to update. I really prided myself on the Firebird because it was something different. We wanted to continue to have something that would stand out from the crowd a bit so I’m super excited about the ‘vette.”
Jimmy Boone, of Boone Racing, echoed the excitement, and said everyone involved with the project agreed the 2016 C7 Corvette was the best vehicle to enter a new chapter with.
“All of us agreed on [the Corvette]. The Corvette is new. The body style is sexy. It looks fast.”
