BBC Top Gear’s ‘Reasonably Priced Car’ Vauxhall Astra Up For Auction

Ever wanted to be a star in BBC Top Gear’sReasonably Priced Car“? Well, you have the opportunity to own said car.

Vauxhall has announced it has put the Astra Tech Line, as seen on Top Gear, up for auction to benefit automotive charity, BEN. The five-door, Power Red Astra utilizes the 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and produces a reasonable 115 bhp, and sits with only 2,908 miles on the odometer.

The charity’s goal, BEN, is to make positive differences to people’s lives in the automotive industry, supporting them in times of difficulty through a wide range of free, confidential information, advice and support services.

Through the donations it receives, BEN is able to help families, for example with the cost of specialist disability equipment for children, giving emotional support through an illness, or providing guidance on how to deal with financial worries.

The Astra has been viewed by more than 350 million people worldwide, and has had some heavy hitters behind the wheel, doing their best around the famed Top Gear Test Track. Those stars include, Olly Murs, who topped the leader board, Margot Robbie, Ron Howard and James Blunt.

Vauxhall notes the airbags have been disabled in the Astra for the inclusion of a roll cage inside, and wants all potential bidders to note the car is not street legal as it stands. The Vauxhall Technical Team will work with the successful bidder at handover to fully explain how the vehicle has been adapted.

  1. I didn’t think they were allowed to sell it, due to it having been constantly thrashed?
