It’s been less than a month since the debut of the all-new 2017 Cadillac XT5 at the Dubai and Los Angeles Auto Shows, but we already we have gotten our hands on the order guide for the new midsize crossover.
The 38-page guide outlines everything we wanted to know about the trim levels, standard features, and optional features of the XT5. The only thing it doesn’t mention is the price; we’ll have to wait until close to the XT5’s launch date for that.

- XT5 (base), available only in FWD
- Luxury, available in FWD or AWD

I would have liked to see the Heads-Up display on all trim levels but it looks like they are following GMC . With all of the trim levels this is going to be Cadillacs volumn leader . GM has already said they want to increase their market share in this segment . Now they need to bring to market the 7-8 passenger SUV , to fill in the gap Between the XT5 and Escalade . The Escalade should move more up market and let the ” un-announced ” SUV take the place of were they have the Escalade now .
Even though the greenhouse looks very similar to the SRX , ( maybe done on purpose ) , this XT5 is light years ahead of the current car . The interior is the best part of the whole package . It looks like Cadillac spent alot of time with it from the door panels to the dash . Tastefully done .
Now we need to see an electric version before a V-Sport to trully compete .
Don’t toy with us….tell us more about this “dual note tone horn”…..please let it be a return to a proper Cadillac trumpet sound horn….please please please…….
Just when is the launch date of the XT5 expected to be?
Spring of 2016 for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. That’s as good as it will get until we get closer to launch.
PS: (most) everything you want and need to know about the XT5, including the launch date, can be found here:

For the launch date, look at the “Availability” section.
Thank you Alex for the reply back. This is much sooner than I was expecting to hear!
I was looking at the order guide and still in all like the vehicle but hate what Cadillac did with some of the options like: the rear camera mirror, surround vision & heads up display only being available on the highest (Platinum) trim level with only all wheel drive… in the southern states, AWD isn’t necessarilly needed! And at 4,650 pounds… it’s a whale for a 3.6 V6 to haul… almost could stand for a modest size V8 under the hood… will this be a gas guzzler? I Guess I’ll have to wait and see. Patience is a virtue, eh!
I very much agree. I was planning to purchase the XT5 until I saw how restricted the options were. With the 2009 SRX and 2013 Premium Trim XTS I already own, options that came with Premium trim are now only available on the highest Platinum XT5. This adds about $10K more to the price than I was planning to spend. Other than on the Platinum, I can’t believe there is only one standard color and all others are extra charge, HUD isn’t available except on the Platinum, in order to get ventilated seats you have a single color choice, there are no third row seat options, you have to have start/stop on full-time, that cargo space (although larger than the newer SRX) has shrunk so dramatically from the first gen version, and still no hi-bred version power plant. The more I try to like this vehicle, the more I just can’t.
No full digital dash, only an 8″ on Platinum trim only. Heads up only on Platinum. I better see some aggressive pricing from Cadillac on these; per trim level they are less equipped than the CTS. At least there is a compact spare tire option.
May I have a copy of ordering material sent to me for me to review prior to placing order for my XT5. Really want to see the colors available for exterior and interior and the whole selection for a Platinum model.
