And Now, 2016 Cadillac CT6 Pricing By Engine And Trim Level

Back in November, Cadillac announced an official starting price of $54,490 for the 2016 Cadillac CT6 sedan. But it’s only now that all the pieces have fallen into place for us to report on the pricing and trim level structure for each engine choice and trim level of the full-size prestige sport-luxury sedan.

The $54,490 is good for a CT6 in the (base) CT6 trim level with the 2.0L Turbo LTG inline-four engine making 272 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque mated to the 8L45 eight-speed automatic transmission and with automatic engine Stop/Start. From there, the only other trim level available on the CT6 with the 2.0T engine is Luxury. It adds various features and equipment and carries a starting price of $59,390. Both trim levels of the 2.0T engine send power exclusively to the rear wheels.

Onward and upward, the CT6 offers the all-new naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX engine making 335 horsepower and 285 pound-feet of torque mated to an eight-speed 8L45 automatic transmission and with automatic engine Stop/Start. The powertrain configuration is available exclusively in all-wheel drive and can be had in four trim levels:

  • CT6 (base): $56,490
  • Luxury: $61,390
  • Premium Luxury: $64,565
  • Platinum: $84,460

Finally, the top-end engine on the 2016 CT6 is the 3.0L Twin-Turbo V6 LGW making 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque mated to GM’s 8L90 8-speed automatic transmission. Like the CT6 with the naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX, the 3.0 Twin-Turbo V6 is available exclusively in all-wheel drive on the CT6. But, unlike the LGX, the LGW can only be configured in three trims levels:

  • Luxury: $65,390
  • Premium Luxury: $68,565
  • Platinum: $88,460

The 2016 Cadillac CT6 will begin arriving to U.S. dealers in March of 2016. Its engine and trim level lineup and pricing is as follows:

  1. I see that the CT8 will start from $90K- to $150k that will arrive for 2020

    1. That’s a $60,000 range you’ve got there. Kind of like predicting that the sun will rise tomorrow.

      1. I dont think he meant starting price, I think he meant the price spectrum of model variants

  2. I’ve got my fingers crossed for Cadillac to release an advanced NA V8 to slot between the 3.0TT V6 and the upcoming TT V8

    1. $56K will get you V6

    2. Luckily, $2000 buys you the V6 AND all wheel drive. If I were a Cadillac dealer, I wouldn’t even put the four banger on the lot.

    3. I’m with ya on this! A-banger has no place in this Cadillac; I suppose the extended range model gets a pass for the tech it’s mated to!

And what’s the story on that upcoming TTV8?! It’d be great if Cadillac were to offer a version of the 6.2 LT1 as a stopgap engine until it arrives.

    4. Well, plenty of people have no problem dropping $60,000 on a CTS with the 2.0L engine.

Alas, the days of displacement being equated to luxury, speed, or prestige are over. Heck, all three of the German full-size luxury sedans are offered with a 2.0T (in Europe), including those from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. So yes, a good boosted four-banger definitely has a place in a full-size Cadillac sedan like the CT6 and does not cheaper anything… especially given that the CT6 is much lighter than its competitors, and thus can do more with its 272 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque.

Consider this: 8 years ago, the 2008 BMW 740i made 325 horsepower out of a 4.4 liter V8. This was considered pinnacle at that point (V12-powered 760i notwithstanding). That was in a heavier car, and those 325 horsepower were achieved very high on the RPM band.

Fast forward 8 years, and we have a Cadillac in the same class and of similar exterior dimensions, but that weighs less and has four fewer cylinders, albeit with a turbocharger, making slightly less power but making that power lower on in the power band… and it’s considered unacceptable by some.

      1. But that’s just it. In 8 years, cars are much better. Competition is much tougher.

A Pontiac G8 still commands nearly $20,000 because it’s hard to find a V8 sedan of that quality with over 350 horsepower. Your only option is a Charger R/T… and that clocks in around the same price.

Meanwhile, the large ultra-luxury sedan market has many options over 300 horsepower. With great torque. CT6 has many rivals, and they offer better 4-cylinder options…

… but GM isn’t nuts. There is a reason for LTG in a CT6.

The 4-cylinder makes sense if you are going to offer it to fleets, and livery duty, at fleet discounts. I suspect that is why it exists. Fleet vehicles driving well-to-do folks around cities, rarely need AWD. Even in a place like New York, where Cadillac now headquarters, snow isn’t much of an issue in a large, heavy sedan moving in traffic.

  4. Yeah a 4c for a car that size is ridiculous and cheapens both the model line and the entire brand.

4c even on the CTS is terrible; same idea. They’re trying to run with BMW who still put a 4c in a 5 series, but BMW can pull it off because of the brand cache over the past couple decades.

Surely GM isn’t going with the green angle or Cafe regulations for the CT6. Dealers won’t order it and even the most oblivious person won’t buy one with a 4c, so why have it?

I love the look of it, design and details screams class and sophistication all at once, more than any other Cadilllac full size car, ever. Perfect proportions and roof lines, gorgeous interior with great touches.

As with the engines, all CT6 should be forced to look this good, though I suspect the 4c base will look terrible with smaller wheels and lacking some design details that really complete them look of the cars in the above press shots.

  5. I think the 4cyl was put in this car for 2 reasons, rental fleet and dealer loaner cars. I agree it is puzzling that Cadillac would even offer it in a car of this status but then we cannot forget this will only stay at the top for a few years as did the XTS and then be one upped by the CT8. I would only order a few of these for CT6 owners that need a loaner car while they are getting thier cars serviced if I were a dealer.

  6. Cadillac’s CT6 is a rule breaker as this is a large sedan at about the same size as a Lexus LS sedan or BMW 7-series; but with a curb weight of under 3,700 lbs, the CT6 is about 1,100 lbs lighter than the 2015 Lexus LS460 and even with a 265 horsepower turbocharged 2.0L 4-cyl engine should be able to accelerate zero to sixty in under 6 seconds and get mileage near the mid 30s as consumers need to understand that the world is changing where you simply don’t need a V8 for performance or a diesel for fuel economy.
