2016 Opel Astra Makes The Short List For European Car Of The Year

The 2016 Opel Astra launch could not have gone any smoother, if we were sitting inside of Opel right now. The 2016 Astra K has won numerous awards, including a Golden Steering Wheel, residual value and a Safety Best recognition.

Now, it’s time for the crème de la crème. The 2016 Astra has been named a finalist for car of the year in Europe. A panel of 58 journalists across 22 European countries will evaluate the Astra and six other contenders and name the car most deserving of the award; there are no segments or categories here, just one all-reining vehicle.

The European Car of the Year award was founded in 1964. In recent years, Opel has come out on top twice – with the Insignia in 2009 and the Ampera in 2012. The 2016 winner will be announced on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show on February 29, 2016.

  1. Perfect design. Better proportions than any European luxury brand. This is the car that could steal the global sales crown from Focus and Corolla.
