Along with the announcement of official 2016 Cadillac CT6 pricing, the brand also slipped in the news the latest sedan would be launching in March of 2016 for the U.S. market, which seems to have been pushed back from an original timeline of December of 2015.
But, in China, the SAIC-General Motors partnership is ready to begin selling the 2016 CT6, and the vehicle will reportedly launch on January 27, according to CarNewsChina.
Chinese Cadillac CT6s will arrive in a 40T trim, using the twin-turbo 3.0-liter LGW V6 engine, or a 28T trim, with the 2.0-liter LTG turbo-four. We’re still scratching our heads as to how those trim names were decided and finalized. All-wheel drive will be standard on the 40T trim, while the 28T trim will be rear-wheel drive only.
China will also see 2016 Cadillac CT6 PHEV before the United States does, likely some time in 2016.

Deciphering the Chinese trim levels is difficult although the 40T could be in reference to the twin-turbo V6’s 400 horsepower output; although using this logic would suggest the 28T should make 280 hp (yet the LTG Turbo 2.0L only makes 265); I’m annoyed that China will be getting their Cadillac CT6 before the US market.
The Chinese market getting the CT6 first only underscores how important that burgeoning market is and secondly while the large sedan market is depressed here in NA in China it is still increasing.
Maybe the Chinese trim levels make sense to the Chinese.
