There’s an old saying that floats around the automotive community from time to time. We never really grow up, the toys just get bigger. It refers to most starting with a mere Hot Wheels or Matchbox addiction, and then moving into the real deal.
Well, what if we the toy really did come to life? That’s exactly what we have here. This is a 1968 C3 Corvette worked over by Gas Monkey Garage to become a real-life Hot Wheels car.
The 1968 Corvette may look familiar, because the entire build was showcased on Fast n’ Loud at Gas Monkey Garage. The 1968 Corvette features a 427 cubic-inch V8, four-speed transmission and a blower sitting tall and mighty atop the hood with dual carbs.
The wheel and tire treatment really help the car come to life, though. Giant dished U.S. Mags custom wheels and skinny one-off MT Sportsman rubber with red pin stripes make this build truly look like a big-boy Hot Wheels car.
Additional details on the entire build include a laundry list of things, but are not limited to, an all-new suspension, brakes, and steering, plus Gas Monkey Garage restored the interior with white seats, black dash and door panels.
If all of this sounds good to you, the 1968 Hot Wheels Corvette will be auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale event taking place on January 30, 2016.
