Toyota Sienna R-Tuned Is Faster Than A 2015 Chevy Camaro SS

While much of the commotion was centered around The Big Three at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, nearly every automaker was represented in some fashion, or displaying the latest concept engineers dreamt up.

That includes Toyota, which brought the 2016 Sienna R-Tuned to its display. Toyota partnered with DG-Spec to create the Sienna R-Tuned. The concept features upgraded brakes, tires, suspension and a limited-slip differential. What’s interesting is Toyota claims the 3.5-liter V6, cranking out a mere 266 hp, is bone stock.

Yet, the “swagger wagon” has managed to outdo a  2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS at The Streets of Willow Springs. Toyota says the concept lapped the track in 1 minute 27 seconds – a full second faster than the 426 ponies found in the 2015 Camaro.

As many like to say, sometimes it’s not all about going in a straight line.

  2. I am sure it did it but is it production? No. How much did it cost to make it do this? A chunk of money. This is a show vehicle where anything is possible.

On the other hand my HHR SS has a fast time than some Lotus and even an older NSX around the Ring in Germany. The cool thing is it was production. Even Cooler I have 55 more HP than the one that did that.

Like I said anything is possible.

In the end what would you rather be driving a Camaro SS or a Minivan?

  5. In this day and age of Go PRO I am sure there is a Video somewhere showing this lap.

Now is this a vehicle that people would want to drive daily? Probably not as it will ride like it has no suspension.

I could make a Savana Van out handle a Corvette too in a lap but compromises would need to be made. It would have been nice if more detail were provided to put this into better context.
