The Green in Motion series was sponsored by GM China, and showcased the versatile Baojun 560 crossover SUV. The series hit the Ningbo revenue, where volunteers transported gifts for children with infantile autism at the Zhoushan Special Kids Care Center. The volunteers also presented courses from the Safe Kids Safe Ride program, which GM China has co-sponsored since 2014.
In turn, General Motors got to show off the Baojun 560’s fuel efficiency in Ningbo. The Chinese-built SUV managed to only sip 1.3 gallons of fuel in 62 miles, at peak efficiency that is. Either way, it’s still pretty impressive. The data was collected as participants drove from Ningbo’s Jiulong Lake to Zhoushan – about 120 km.
“This program gave us the opportunity to show how the Baojun 560 meets the diverse needs for moving people as well as goods. Its aluminum engine, Aisin five-speed manual transmission and Continental low-rolling resistance tires contribute to its impressive fuel efficiency,” said a participant from SAIC-GM.
The Baojun 560 just so happens to have; the most spacious interior in its segment, a standard 8-inch video entertainment system that allows smartphone connectivity, and a ground clearance of 185 mm. Plus it’s a low-price vehicle, which is just what that market needs.

Odd that GM China can produce such great selling vehicles that are not available in North America . GM is in partnership with two other Chinese companies and GM holds a 44% share . Something tells me that the other partners have a say in what designs and sizes are rendered . Whatever , it is working and truly unfortunate that this method of developing vehicles for that country wasn’t , in my opinion , done in India !
