Community Question: Should Chevrolet Build An Outdoorsman-Friendly Silverado?

Chevrolet brought quite a few concepts to the 2015 SEMA Show, and there was no shortage of Silverados.

Today, however, we’re going to take another look at the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado Realtree Bone Collector concept as part of this community question. The 2016 Silverado Realtree concept houses a plethora of gear and adaptations to create the perfect Silverado for the outdoorsman (or woman).

The 2016 Silverado Realtree concept adds aggressive off-road tires, mounted on black Chevrolet Accessories 22-inch black aluminum wheels, while incorporating Chevrolet Accessories’ new off-road package, which includes a front push bar, assist steps and sport bar. But, the off-road additions are only part of the formula.

We already highlighted the extremely user-friendly storage solution in the bed of the truck, provided by Truck Vault. The in-bed storage houses two drawers, running the length of the bed, perfect for long items like fishing poles, rifles and more. But, the features hardly compromises bed depth, with plenty of room to toss in extra gear up top.

So, we ask, should Chevrolet consider building something to beckon the outdoorsy crowd? The market is certainly different from the segment Chevy currently chases with the 2016 Colorado, which has the lifestyle consumer in its sights. The outdoorsy crowd is rougher, and will certainly be getting their trucks dirtier than the lifestyle consumer who purchased a new Colorado.

An outdoorsman-friendly Silverado could house the excellent storage systems seen on the Realtree concept, and even include some of the green and camouflage accents seen inside the cabin of the concept truck. Part of the market are hunters, no doubt.

  1. This truck looks very good, but I would love Chevy to build a Raptor fighter and/or Silverado SS. I would also like another high end trim, something about LTZ other than High Country.

  2. Brinmg back the Avalanche with the Silverado’s engine.

  3. Yeah, they had a utilitarian Silverado, it was the Avalanche. Bed mat, side bed compartments, steps on the bumper, cladding (for a few years) to prevent the scratches on the lower body.
