Billy Scott will replace Daniel Knost as Danica Patrick’s crew chief for the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, Motorsport.com reports.
Scott started in NASCAR as a mechanic in the Camping World Truck Series before earning an engineering degree and working with Robert Yates Racing and Michael Waltrip Racing. He then worked as a team engineer under Rodney Childers before moving to Stewart-Haas racing. This past season, he worked with Clint Bowyer, David Ragan, Michael Waltrip and Brian Vickers.
The crew chief change is another for Patrick in 2016 after the driver’s longtime sponsor GoDaddy announced its withdrawal from motorsports earlier this year. Racing her new Nature’s Bakery-sponsored No. 10 Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas racing with her third crew chief in as many years, Patrick will be looking to build on her 24th place overall finish she posted in the driver’s standings in 2015 next season.
