You’ve already seen and heard a lot about the 2017 Cadillac XT5. But what many of you haven’t had a chance to see yet is the all-new, C1XX-platformed midsize crossover in person or in non-edited pictures. GM Authority to the rescue.
Just yesterday at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, we snapped some live photos of the XT5. The available show car was wearing a gorgeous white hue that we must say looked great. In fact, the lighter color reveals all kinds of curves and edges that the original press pics didn’t show.
So, check out the gallery just below for yourself and tell us if the new pics change your perception of the XT5.

I’m surprised that they’re showcasing this one, just because the interior looks a little plain as compared to the various wood options.
That’s because they are idiots, Mike. Terrible marketing, as usual. Just look at the european brands when they show their new models. Different photos(lots of beautiful pics),different videos. All the information together.
When GM shows a car, you have to search the info all over the internet.
Look at the xt5. As far as I know, this model offers the full led headlights as an option. Where are they? Why did not they bother to show it? Jeez, this is a NEW MODEL and people judge by the first photos. You must bring the best version u have to impress the potential customers. But No, they have brought a naked model with the lamest leather/wood combo….
The same goes to the ct6.
As for the car… Well, its better than the previous one, but still a vegetable. Horrible fwd proportions.
About CTS. Well its 2015 and still has no full led. Besides, it looks dated.
Ct6- The front is ok, but the back is too plain, boring and simple… As for its interior. Well, style is subjective, but the attention to the small details is a fact.. ANd its terrible. Still too much plastic. HAve you seen the horrible seat controls?(materials, design. They are just horrible). Even the c class has a better attention. And Im afraid, the upcoming E will outclass it so hard.
Don’t get me wrong,I’m not a hater. I’m a huge cadillac fan. But they REALLY need to WORK.
Leave the dated A&S design language already. It’s time to MOVE ON, folks. TIME TO MOVE ON! Bring the real LUXURY AND EXPENSIVE CARS. Look at the Avenir. It’s a brilliand. But, another concept. As usual.
Bring the S coupe’s fighter, s sedan’s rival. Don’t forget about the cayenne’s territory.
Please, forget this dry and plain looking A&S. Or at least improve it so it could look as good as in the elmiraj.
Bring the name back. Give the hips, give the passion to the models.
The current ones, look dry, boring etc.
Sorry for my english)
I love it! Build a EREV version (with the Chevy Volt powertrain and battery) and I will buy one in Pearl White!!
If this gets any electric powertrain, I expect it to get the new system from the CT6 plug-in hybrid. Very impressive system. In the CT6 the numbers stand at 335 hp, 432 lb-ft of torque, 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, and an electric range of 30 miles. I really think Cadillac should expand this to other models. It would be a huge improvement over the current ELR if Cadillac dropped it in there.
Agree the new PHEV powertrain would make the light ELR sing but alas Cadillac has repeatedly said that the ELR is dead.
They will not do a stand alone model like that in the future but rather offer a electric or hybrid version of an existing conventional gas powertrain.
You will see hybrid versions of each model as time goes on.
You may still see a full electric version of some models as it is hard to do a full electric in a regular car as Aero is even more important as is weight.
Weight and Aero is why we do not see a full Volt like version of a CUV yet. We need better batteries and range to do that. In time it will happen but it would be disappointing now. .
The Volt system in a Equinox would only get at best 2/3 the electric range right now. That will change but not as of yet.
it look less slab-sided than the previous modal.
I am glad that they will do a Platinum version
Some of the photos of the front end make it look ” fat ” , but if you look at the videos of it the front end has a much more chiseled look to it . AutoGuide has a video of it at the L.A Show . Cadillac definitely did their homework on the XT5 . Everything is pure luxury . Even the top of the door panels are leather covered and not hard plastic . I like that the wheels fill out the wheel wells too , are they 20’s ? Some have pointed out that it looks to much like the SRX , but that isn’t such a bad thing . The ol’ SRX was a definite winner in sales volumn on an old platform .
Too bad we here in the U.S. couldn’t build for our market and the Chinese one . But that would cost to much I know . Lexus should be worried , this looks so much better in my opinion .
Yes, everything about the XT5 is great. The only element that can be argued is not great is the platform choice, and that will likely get ironed out with other Cadillac crossovers in the future.
The thing about manufacturing in the U.S. for China is that the vehicle prices becomes unrealistically high due to import tariffs. A $40,000 vehicle in the U.S. becomes an $80,000 vehicle in China when imported for sale into China, thereby negating most sales volume. Hence local production in China for the CDM.
I’m not saying anything…
harsh , wild and majestic like other Cadillacs, ………….but rims are weak and disharmonic .
Looks nice. I am glad they kept the V6. I wish they offered a V8 option. That would have been awesome. Many luxury buyers like myself like luxury and power. I have owned 12 Cadillacs. I Presently own on 2014 SRX and plan to order this XT5 as soon as it becomes available. The dashboard is not as nice as my SRX but everything else is terrific.
The dashboard is much nicer from every single standpoint than the SRX. Everything about this car is better than the SRX.
As for a V8… never going to happen as long as FWD platform is involved. Would make an already very nose-heavy car, even heavier. Move to a proper RWD structure and then we can talk about the possibility of a V8.
An elegant, signature American style and design that is very distinctive among the plain vanilla competition. Coupled with a totally upgraded powertrain, less weight, and an upgraded infotainment system, it will give German and Japanese carmakers reasons to worry especially if the price points remain competitive. I have to give this a long, hard look over the next year. I was tiring of the Art and Science concept, but this XT5 looks upscale and elegant compared to the competition.
Jeez…Cadillac are looking fat and subby these days.
