After teasers, spy shots and sightings, Buick officially took the wraps off of the 2017 LaCrosse here at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Soak it in, because this is the new face of Buick.
But, we’re here to ask you: is this design hot, or not? Let’s look at it a bit closer.
If we were to give our honest first opinion, the front end of the 2017 Buick LaCrosse is an utter home run. The design team has absolutely knocked this design out of the park. The shift of the wheels 2.7-inches forward allows for proportions the current LaCrosse could only dream of.
A recessed, winged grille with a modern interpretation of the Buick waterfall styling cue has blended everything we loved about the Buick Avenir show car into a production package, and it’s seriously pleasing to look at.
Now, the rear is where the 2017 LaCrosse loses us a little. The sweepspear design lines buttress really well to create a strong shoulder at the rear quarter, flowing into the new winged LED taillights but, from a dead-on straight view, the rear is, well, boring.
Dare we say it, but the GM Authority staff has agreed it’s a look almost reminiscent of the not-so-missed Lucerne. We do quite like the integrated rear lip flowing from the sleek roofline, but the rear comes in as a disappointment after seeing the drop-dead gorgeous front fascia.
So, it’s time to hear from you. Are you digging the new look ushered in with 2017 Buick LaCrosse? Or were you looking for something more? Sound off in our poll, and talk to us in the comment section.

The car is great. Very close to Cadillac CTS, BMW 5-series etc. At 33.000,00$ it is a great price. Although I believe there should be more engines available like a 2.o liter.
A small block V8 would be nice. imo
I thought of the Lucerne right away after seeing the pix. Interesting looking is one way to sum up the design. It seems as if the design language is a combo of 1990 dollar grin Buick meets the C pilar of a Tesla while wearing sn Opel rear (the part that I like best minus the crome eyebrows).
Then again, I like the current Lacrosse do what do I know?
8/10: Would bang, but won’t tell Cadillac
Hot is the wrong word, elegant with strong design qualities
I like it. As to if it hot I will have to see it in person.
The cars today are so hard to really get a good read on as they do not photograph as well as they look.
This one reminds me of a more upscale Impala and I like the Impala.
It looks amazing from the front. The back is “meh”. The tail lights are a bit off, I think that they would look better if the top edge of the part on the trunk tapered down slightly like on the Regal, and they moved up the Buick logo so that it’s in line with where the tail lights would then “point”. Also, the chrome on the front bumper lines up with the chrome moldings on the doors, but it seems as though something is missing from behind the rear wheel without a chrome strip to pick up and carry around the rear of the car.
Buick needed a beautiful design as a way to challenge the deep character lines aimed at Gen X found on Infinity and the meh design language of Lexus.
The car would be fine if it weren’t for that “not finished” look seen around the C pillar and the bulbous rear.
Mark Adam’s should be given Buick since he has done such an outstanding job redefining Opel design.
The car looks great, but the grill seems out of proportion and too much early 2000’s. It should be smaller and Buick should drop the circle around the shields.
Hard to tell from this angle, but looks like the new and improved Lucerne.
Does it HAVE to look like a BMW? And just WHEN are these designers going to realize that they need to get rid of the cockpit concept? These are PASSENGER CARS, Not FIGHTER JETS!!!! Get rid of that DAMN center console! Go back to what sold Buicks in the first place: A SUPERIOR ride, COMFORTABLE seats, SPACIOUS Cabins.
