Chevrolet came, saw and conquered two out of three award categories at the coveted Motor Trend Car and Truck of the Year competitions. While the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro held the fort down of the car side of things, the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado was busy bringing home a consecutive win.
Last year, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado was named Truck of the Year, upsetting the newly-introduced, all-aluminum Ford F-150. This year, the 2016 Colorado still fended off competitors bringing home the golden calipers once more.
The major play for the 2016 Colorado’s repeat win was the introduction of the 2.8-liter Duramax turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine. The powerplant was praised for its refinement, 7,700-pound towing capacity and 31 mpg on the highway, with a combined average of 25 mpg.
We’d imagine morale is quite high as Chevrolet storms into the 2015 Los Angles Auto Show this week, and we offer our sincere congratulations to the bowtie brand for taking home two important awards.

The Colorado “upsetting the newly-introduced, butt ugly, empty beer can furd f150”
You’re Darn Right!
For two years running.
I will be the first to admit these awards really are not all that meaning full as they have been proven to be a little rigged over the years by several sources. Note the companies that often win this award are often the largest advertisers too.
But with that said it is not going to hurt anything as most people are none the wiser and this does help with a good media blitz and marketing. Congrats on the double win this year and the two years running.
I drove this truck two weeks ago and I really came away impressed. It rides and drives well and is just the right size for me as I have less need of a larger truck today. In a couple years I may look into Canyon for my next vehicle.
This truly is the best in class truck and I will let you debate the larger trucks vs. it as this truck is right sized for me.
No doubt Scott, my friend and I test drove a new GMC Canyon, wow the ride and the interior were great. I like the size as I am not into the larger vehicles.
Make it 3 years in a row. Bring out the ZR2 for 2017.
