The 2016Â Motor Trend Car of the Year went to the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, which is a pretty big deal for GM considering the fact that the Chevrolet Colorado earned the Truck of the Year award.
Both Chevrolet vehicles were chosen out of seven finalists. For the 2016 Camaro this included the Audi TT, BMW 7 Series, Honda Civic, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mercedes AMG GT-S, and the Toyota Mirai. In short, the 2016 Camaro faced some pretty serious competition.
The 2016 Colorado faced only two non-GM trucks, including the Nissan Titan XD and Toyota Tacoma, and earned the title for its second year in a row. The three other GM trucks were the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Canyon, and GMC Sierra. To be frank, GM dominated the truck finalists chart.
For the first time ever, the Motor Trend Car and Truck of the Year awards were presented live in LA. For its inaugural showing, the host was none other than Adam Carolla.

Well done, GM! Now you must take all three awards next year, including the SUV award with the 2017 Chevy Equinox.
