LS swap the world, as many fans love to say within the community. The Scion FR-S is certainly a part of said world, and it wasn’t able to hide from an owner ready to drop in V8 power for one of the purest Toyota products we’ve seen in some time.
The limits of the car’s four-cylinder engine can be reached quickly, something the owner of this particular FR-S found out after blowing the engine on 20-pounds of boost, and that’s when he decided it was time for an LS engine, according to the original report from LSXtv.
Sitting in place of the four-banger is now a 5.3-liter iron-block LS engine with LS2 heads and a C6 Corvette Z06 camshaft for good measure. In the near future, the FR-S is due for a turbocharger, so the 5.3-liter V8 has some force-induction company under the hood.
The owner states right now the car is good for around 400 hp to the rear wheels, but he intends to keep the FR-S as street-drivable as possible. Besides, he apparently has a matching 2JZ swapped Scion FR-S to match what you see above.

T-56 from ’06 GTO. was wondering what was handling all that brute
Those are great cars, it and its Subaru counterpart for pure driving in a smaller 2+2 coupe. Stock engine is part of that pure driving, as its not the most powerful, but it’s responsive and makes you focus on driving (in a good way). With the car being extremely light and well tuned handling wise, it’s a very enjoyable driving experience when you can get it on the open road and in the turns.
While the ’16 Camaro is a different beast than this, lets hope it’s shedding of weight makes the and V6 models similarly a driving car.
