Our Desire For The HSV ClubSport R8 Tourer Is Real

We know the HSV Gen-F2 ClubSport R8 Tourer was revealed alongside the entire Gen-F2 range weeks ago, but we merely wanted to take this space and highlight how awesome this thing is.

There’s a bit of a running joke among automotive media, seeing most of us are die-hard auto enthusiasts, with varying ranges of purity along the scale. If the automotive media were to build its perfect vehicle it would be a wagon, with a ginormous engine paired to a manual gearbox and be some sort of obscure color.

That’s the joke, but the Gen-F2 ClubSport R8 Tourer is the reality.

We couldn’t fill this space with enough pleas for this vehicle to be sold in the United States. It’s functional, yet fast with its standard LSA 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. It’s offered with a manual gearbox. It looks aggressive, yet will most likely age quite well. What more could one ask for from a vehicle?

If you’re the automotive media, not a whole lot more, according to the joke, but we’re sure there are plenty of fans who would make sure the HSV ClubSport R8 Tourer would be next great cult following in the United States.

  2. “If you build it, they will come.” US will never see it, too cool.

  4. Am I the only one that sees this as a quiet screw you GM look at we can build and your still closing us down statement. We can build quality cars here that you guys and girls in the states would love if you had access to them on a large scale instead of that terribly bland SS (in styling) that you can buy. God they could have even just whacked a body kit on the SS like the HSV and thrown you a bone with a slightly up tuned engine just from the ECM programming (from what you can buy now but a low cost upgrade worth next to nix) to make them something you would truly want to own. Sorry im so cut up looking at this but you have to remember we loose these for good soon and its not like losing a Reliant Robin.

  5. David, They do the same thing with the Ute (El Camino). Frustrating as hell.
