A dash-cam of a fellow motors recently captured a rather brutal hit-and-run involving a seventh-gen Chevy Malibu on the I-75 in Detroit. On Tuesday, the video in question was released by local Police in hopes of locating the Malibu and/or its driver.
As you will see in the video below, a United VanLines semi and the white Malibu sedan were driving side-by-side down the freeway. Upon approaching the I-94 exit ramp, the ‘Bu is traveling in the lanes that peel off onto the exit, but instead of exiting, it continues to travel straight, merging several seconds after into the lane of the truck, thereby slamming into it and causing the semi to flip onto its side and then into the median wall. A major collision, indeed.
Luckily, the 54-year-old male truck driver was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor bumps and bruises, though we can’t say the same about the truck he was driving. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet flees the scene with damage to the quarter panel. The incident also resulted in the closing of the interstate for several hours.
The driver of the Malibu is said to not be in custody, but has been interviewed by the authorities. Charges have not yet been pressed, but an investigation is currently underway.
Editor’s note: we’ve removed the video of the crash, which was originally embedded here. Watch the video here instead (not compatible with mobile devices, unfortunately).

Who surfs the internet on their free time at home on a desktop!?! Make it work for mobile devices!! We surf the internet at work while supposed to be working!!
Relax buddy. It’s not GMA, it’s the morons at the news company proving the video who can’t make it work.
You mean your phone can’t render conventional webpages in it’s browser and can only watch videos in a mobile format?
Ouch.
Charge the driver of the Malibu with the crash and then force him to pay for all the damage to the truck, trailer, and the furniture, etc. he caused.
Hate to say this but the truck driver should not have budged. He’s bigger and should have made the car give himself the equivalent of a pit maneuver off the front of the semi if that’s how it would have ended or in the least slammed the brakes to slow enough to give the car slightly more room. Something as big as the semi should not have had to end up like that because of a little car.
