Holden And Mercedes Expose Why Non-Genuine Wheels Aren’t Worth The Risk: Video

Non-genuine parts and wheels may be an inexpensive alternative to revive an OE look, but Holden and Mercedes-Benz have paired to create a video showing why they’re simply not worth it.

Holden hosted Mercedes at its Lang Lang proving grounds to compare genuine, and non-genuine, Mercedes wheels. Lang Lang includes a stretch of road to simulate worst-case-scenario driving conditions, including some massive potholes drivers encounter in the real world.

At merely 31 mph, the fake wheels don’t hold up too well, with a large chunk snapping away from the wheel and flying off. The original wheels? Just fine. And, let’s be honest, everyone adheres to the five-mph-over rule. Most likely, drivers would be traveling even faster.

You can see the entire experiment in the video above. And remember: stick with stock.

    1. Knowing the guys at Holden’s Lang Lang PG, the testing would have been accurate, checked and double checked. They are among the best in the world at this stuff. Which begs the question, we are ceasing the manufacture of cars in this country because??
