Custom 1955 Chevy Road Toar Car With A 409 To Be Sold At Mecum

You may have heard someone say, “flames only look good if they’re done right,” well this custom 1955 Chevy 210 coupe is probably what they were talking about. Built by Woody’s Custom Hot Rodz, it was used in the 2011 Street Rodder Road Tour, and is now on its way to be sold at the Mecum Anaheim auction.

One of the big highlights for this hot rod is the  474 cubic-inch, eight-cylinder engine based on the original 409 powerplant. The engine is said to be pushing out 551 hp at 6,000 RPM and 575 lb-ft of torque at 4,600 RPM. All of this power is mated to a built Gearstar Level 3 200-4R transmission. Take a look at the rest of the modifications below:

  • box-railed Morrison GT Sport frame
  • tubular front A-arms
  • Strange Engineering triangulated 4-link rear
  • Strange Engineering springs and coilovers
  • Flaming River rack-and-pinion steering
  • Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes
  • power-coated Wheel Vintiques alloy wheels
  • Nitto tires

Fit enough to compete in an autocross event during the Road Tour, meaning you can actually put this classic Chevrolet hot rod to use. On top of that, the exterior finish looks spectacular, and the interior is near perfect. We wonder how much this will sell for at the Mecum auction in November.
