Corvette Racing Re-Signs Entire Driver Lineup For 2016 Season

Corvette Racing re-signed its now familiar driver lineup for the 2016 racing season yesterday. The roster, consisting of Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen, Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner, has been racing together with the team since 2012.

As expected, all four drivers will return to drive two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs in the IMSA WeatherTech United Sportscar Championship on a full-time basis. For 2016, the team will have a new C7.R to drive that has been homologated for use in both IMSA and the FIA’s World Endurance Championship.

“We are pleased to have the Corvette Racing driver lineup set for 2016,” Mark Kent, Director of Chevrolet Racing, said in a prepared statement. “Antonio, Jan, Oliver and Tommy have been behind the wheel of the familiar yellow Corvettes for several seasons now. Their ability to work cohesively has resulted in numerous key race wins and championships. We are proud of the accomplishments these drivers and Corvette Racing have delivered, and we look forward to more success.”

Corvette Racing’s quartet of drivers has racked up 16 wins since they first started racing together in 2012, including victories in the 24 hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring and the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen. All four drivers have also taken GT-class championships with the team at some point, with Milner and Gavin winning the title in 2012 and Magnussen and Garcia taking the honors in 2013.

Sam loves to write and has a passion for auto racing, karting and performance driving of all types.
