Chevy Puts Smartphones Through A Wood Chipper To Promote OnStar 4G LTE: Ad Break

Believe it or not, cell phone addiction is a very real thing. It’s not that we are emotionally attached to the devices themselves, but that we can’t stand to not be connected to the outside world in some way. Chevrolet knows this, and recently tested how addicted some volunteers were to their cell phones – and how much patience they had, in a commercial promoting the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze (even though the spokesman referred to it as the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze) and its standard OnStar 4G LTE Wi Fi.
At the beginning of the ad spot, Chevy’s spokesman asks the volunteers for their cell phones on the grounds that they are participating in a marketing research survey and thus can’t give out any secrets over social media. The spokesman then immediately turns around and puts the cell phones in a wood chipper in order to prove the point that not having a cell phone, and thus not having access to the outside world, is not fun at all.
The spokesman actually swapped the real phones out for decoys, so no cell phones were actually hurt in the making of this commercial. It’s a clever way to promote 4G LTE wifi and car connectivity capabilities as a whole, but it might make you think twice about volunteering for any sort of marketing research study in the future.

Interesting they didn’t show the all new Cruze…
Although I cannot see the image, I wanted to say that the initial offering of the 16 Cruze looks just like a 15 as there were no differences, the redesign is to start hitting showrooms soon.
One of the funniest commercials I have seen in a while.
There is a Spanish language version that is even funnier. I don’t speak Spanish but their facial expressions are priceless.
STUPIDEST COMMERCIAL EVER – And here is why: 1st, dude makes everyone give up their cell phones and he tosses them in the woodchipper… then, he tells them all that he has a better way for them to stay connected… he shows them the new Chevy Cruze and tells them all about the wifi that can keep a whole bunch of folks connected at the same time… except, and here’s the clinker, he has destroyed all the devices they would have to use while staying connected in the new Chevy Cruze… uhmmm, like DUH!!!
I agree. What device? You just shredded it. Please think before airing these things. I like Chevy vehicles but the stupidity steers me away from wanting to purchase.
That spokesman looks psychotic just pretending to throw phones in woodchipper. He bothers me on all subsequent commercials.
