Chevrolet And LG Chem To Hold Briefing Over Chevrolet Bolt Supplier Relations

Chevrolet has announced it will be holding a supplier relations meeting with LG Chem, where the two will discuss a new relationship regarding the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV.

Currently, LG supplies major electronic components and hardware for the Chevrolet Volt PHEV (Partial Hybrid Electric Vehicle), but it seems LG is poised to also supply its components for the upcoming 2017 Bolt, too.

The meeting will take place tomorrow, October 20 via conference call, where General Motors executive vice president – global product development, purchasing and supply chain, Mark Reuss, will head discussions with Pamela Fletcher, executive chief engineer of electric vehicles and LG CEO, Denise Gray.

Chevrolet continues to ramp up its efforts to offer an affordable pure-electric vehicle. The 2017 Bolt EV will be assembled at the Orion Assembly plant, and is expected to debut in 2016 for the 2017 model year.

  1. I hope Chevrolet will expand its Bolt brand. If done properly, I think Bolt sales would increase significantly and perhaps kick-start a new era in electric car sales. I propose these two models:

    1) A van – The change here would be to add read-sliding rear doors. There is a small Ford van that shows how attractive such a car would be.

    2) A coupe – What I want to see here is the most beautiful and elegant couple that humans can design and build. I would want the steering, brakes, performance and interior to be raised to BMW i3 levels. Such a car should do wonders for G M’s sales
    and reputation.

  2. Knowing what GM initially did with the Volt and is currently doing with the Spark EV, it won’t even be available to 99% of the country. Too bad, really.
