Buick Verano’s 1.5L Turbo Engine Named To ‘China Heart’ Ten Best List

Buick has no image issues in China. In fact, General Motors can only wish Buick is all well-regarded in the U.S. as it is in China one day. It’s working on it.

In the meantime, the 2016 Buick Verano has scooped up another award in the People’s Republic. This time it’s for the 1.5-liter SIDI turbocharged four-cylinder powering the car.

The Chinese automotive media selected the engine to the “China Heart” Ten Best Engine List for 2015 after judges praised the powerplant for its durability, advanced technology, power, fuel efficiency, low maintenance cost, and low level of noise, vibration and harshness.

In addition, the 2016 Verano itself was added to the “China Heart Recommended List.”

The 1.5-liter turbo graces the 2016 Buick Verano 20T variant of the car, where it’s paired with a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission, and produces 166 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The power is enough to send the 2016 Verano from 0-62 mph in 8.8 seconds.

With the news of this award, it becomes the ninth year a GM-SAIC engine has made the Ten Best list.

    1. Another racist rant by another racist American! I guess you have no issues with engines assembled in Mexico that randomly seem to detonate as in the Corvette or US and Canadian assembled vehicles that seem to get one recall after another!

  2. This is a communist regime , no mercy for it’s citizens , hack into our governments most sensitive agencies , have huge stockplies of missiles , millions of soldiers , trillions of US dollars . They try to control/challenge shipping in international waters because of supposed ancient claims and you call another a RACIST ? This country which has billions of people pose enormous communist threat to world peace . They buy up Canadian and US resource companies and I’m sure they could become the biggest employer in North America if they were allowed to have their way . This is a global economy , but we get to chose who we go to bed with and I for one will not supprt people buying the most expensive thing in their life , except for a house from a foreign communist aggressive regime !
