Cadillac is currently busy putting its investment dollars to use to not only fill its product gaps with new crossovers, but the brand has also stated it’s planning more than a few plug-in vehicles to increase its tech credibility in the marketplace.
The 2016 Cadillac ELR was a good step in the right direction, but the 2017 Cadillac CT6 PHEV will be a greater test to see how Cadillac creates a refined hybrid experience.
According to a member on the GM Volt forum, as spotted by Gas2, Cadillac is currently testing a fleet six CT6 PHEVs on the east coast outside of the Baltimore Operations Plant.
The member reportedly pressed for driving details, but an unnamed General Motors employee merely commented, “It’s a big car with a lot of power.”
Cadillac already revealed the 2017 CT6 PHEV at Auto Shanghai earlier this year, but it remains unclear when the U.S. will receive the plug-in luxury sedan.

when is the CT8 is coming out
2020 according to Cadillac.
Let’s get the CT6 out first! Lol
CT6 2016…….CT8 2020
it remains unclear when the U.S. will receive the plug-in luxury sedan…..
CAFE objectives were lofty before the price of gas tanked and encouraged SUV sales and discouraged small car and EV sales. Luxury competitors are also getting in this game — Cadillac needs to be there too in all the major markets
lets hope the CT8 is not slab sided like the CT6 and ATS/CTS….the slab sided look…. does not scream FLAGSHIP.
I seen a YouTube video showing the CT6 in a Platinum version . It has a different type of leather with “real” carbon fiber on the door panels and console . Rear seats that recline and are heated and cooled and will also give you a gentle massage at the same time . The Cadillac engineer also pointed out that the cut and sew on the seats and dash have been toned down a bit to give it a more refined look ( and it does ) . And even the chrome has a satin finish that gives it a more upscale look . [ I have that on my ’16 Terrain Denali and it does make a statement of refined luxury ]
There was a lot of attention that was spent on the rear seating area thinking of the Chinese market where people will be spending their time while being chauffered around town . Cadillac did this because there won’t be a reason for a stretched version of the CT6 , unlike the S-Class that needs to do it specifically for that market .
Sales of the car will be interesting to watch because this is what Cadillac has always been known for , building big luxury cars . And this one isn’t going to ” float ” down the road but will have the driving dynamics that people want now . Time will tell………………
