1963 Ferrari 250 GTE Will Scare Purists With Small-Block V8: Video

Different strokes for different folks. That could easily describe what’s going on with this 1963 Ferrari 250 GTE. The Ferrari GTE, based on the highly-coveted Ferrari 250 GTO, sits a peg down on the desirability list, but remains a classic nonetheless.
One man decided to create his own take on the classic Ferrari, however. He completely restored the Ferrari body (with a Mitsubishi paint color), dropped a 302 cubic-inch small-block Chevy V8 in and paired it to a Dodge Viper six-speed manual transmission. Oh, and the power exits through a Ford nine-inch rear end. Yes, there’s quite a bit going on here.
Road Heads caught up with the owner of this 1963 250 GTE to get a better understanding of how, and why, this project came to be. The most standout quote from the owner: “they hate it, and that’s why I like it.” “They” meaning the purists.
Overall, you have to commend the originality, no matter where you stand on if he has ruined a classic car, or created something really, really cool.
