Remember When The Stig Thrashed A C6 Corvette Z06 On The Top Gear Test Track?

The new Corvette C7 Z06 seems to have all the attention these days but, as Top Gear’s team racing driver reminds us, its progenitor was also a slayer of vehicles costing many, many times its price.
The Stig– who can somehow post on YouTube despite the fact his hands are permanently affixed at the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock position–today released a clip of his old hot lap in the naturally aspirated, 7.0L beast.
As *former* Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson points out in the lap commentary, the Stig absolutely hurls the 505 hp monster around the famous test track without incident or drama.
The permanently masked wheelman slides it into a few precisely controlled drifts, but the Corvette clips nearly every apex and bursts out of corners with primal fury.
We won’t spoil the fun here. However, as Clarkson points out moments before revealing its time, “I doubt very much any of you will believe this.”

This is another proof that the American supercar can match or beat all the imports, gets better MPG (up to 29) and cost less, too!
Another memorable episode–may have even been the same program where Jeremy started from a dead stop in fifth gear and ran it up to I believe 165 without any shifting!
