Driver Barrels Into Chevrolet Dealership, Smashes Into Two Parked Corvette Stingrays

What is it about the Corvette that causes all manner of vehicles to crash into it?

The latest round of insanity continued early Monday around 1:30am at a Chevrolet dealership in Nashville, Tennessee. According to authorities, a car (it appears to be a seventh-generation Buick LeSabre) drove into the dealership and smashed into two –yes, two – Stingrays parked on the lot. One of the Corvettes was hit so hard the driver pushed it into the showroom, destroying the door and showroom window. Yikes.

The driver, said to be in his 40s according to WSMV, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Despite our initial thought, cops say drugs and alcohol weren’t a factor in the crash. Go figure.

As to what caused the man to barrel into the parking lot of a Chevrolet dealer in the middle of the night at breakneck speed remains to be seen. The investigation, and our bewilderment, continues.

A far-too-tall Ontarian who likes to focus on the business end of the auto industry, in part because he's too tall to safely swap cogs in a Corvette Stingray.

  1. Based on the roof line, rear lights and the closeup of the grille, I believe the offending vehicle is a Mercury Grand Marquis.
