To note, production of the 2016 Corvette started mid-June at GM’s Bowling Green plant in Kentucky, making August the third month that the updated sports car has been in production. As such, many of the 2016 model year options are just now starting production, including the Long Beach Red and Corvette Yellow exterior colors, which have come online over the last two weeks at the plant. Several new design packages are expected to start production shortly, as well as the Corvette Z06 C7.R edition.
While Corvette sales were up 1.72 percent, overall sales of Chevrolet vehicles in the U.S. — which include sales of the Corvette — dropped 1.52 percent to 183,098 units in August. See more GM August 2015 sales results.
