Chevy Camaro U.S. Sales Down 23 Percent To 6,236 Units In August 2015

Chevrolet dealers in the United States delivered 6,236 units of the Camaro sports car to customers during the month of August 2015, representing a 23 percent drop compared to the 8,134 Camaros sold in August 2014.

During the first eight months of 2015, Camaro sales totaled 56,298 units, a year-over-year drop of 13 percent. In addition, sales were off 1,233 units when compared to the previous sales month of July 2015, during which dealers delivered 7,469 units of the Camaro.

To note, the Camaro on sale currently is the fifth-generation model based on GM’s Zeta platform. The vehicle will be phased out in November and be replaced by the all-new, 2016 Camaro that will soon start full-scale production at GM’s Lansing Grand River assembly plant in Michigan. As such, there is likely a significant amount of pent-up demand for the all-new model, which is lighter and more capable, wears all-new sheetmetal and has an all-new cabin with more advanced technology.

As Camaro slid 23 percent, overall sales of Chevrolet vehicles in the U.S. — which include those of the Camaro — dropped 1.52 percent to 183,098 units in August. See more GM August 2015 sales results.

  1. There should be no surprise this is happening. The new Mustang has no doubt clipped some sales due to being new and also since the Gen6 is coming in the next few months. The nice thing about this though is there are some good deals to be had out there on the Gen5. If you can find the 1LE anywhere this may be your chance to score one of the most fun driving pony cars on the planet at a good price.

  2. This will turn around fast.

To be honest this car sold very well for one in it’s last year. It remained ahead of the Mustang for the better part of the year till their new one came out.
