Cadillac had quite the surprise for guests at the opening of the New York Fashion Week. If you reside in Manhattan, you may have been startled by precious cargo flying above the city, the first time to occur in New York City in 15 years. That cargo was the 2017 Cadillac XT5.
The marketing stunt coincided with Cadillac’s partnership announcement with Public School, a men’s fashion design team.
The 2017 Cadillac XT5 was flown over the event space at 8:30 p.m. on Manhattan’s lower West Side, according to Ad Age, which spoke to Cadillac CMO, Uwe Ellinghaus, about the stunt.
“The spirit of New York is very simple: Never stand still. Always move on. And this is exactly what I want in the Cadillac brand,” said Ellinghaus.
The publicity stunt also has deep ties with Cadillac’s fashionista marketing strategy, planting roots in the designer community to search for a new audience of Cadillac lovers. Even at the 2017 Cadillac XT5’s official debut, the luxury crossover will skip out on the 2015 Dubai Motor Show, and be shown at a local arts district in the city first.
If you look closely in the video, you’ll see a quick snippet of the 2017 XT5’s interior, which we’ve provided for you separately here.
In the meantime, however, take in the trendy shots and crisp lines of the XT5 in the video above.

My father, brother and I are all Cadillac owners. I ordered my first Cadillac when I was 43. And no, I’m not a republican.
I think what I just saw was a stupid waste of money. But I will give credit where credit is due if any of those hipster defuses ever buy a Cadillac. And no, leasing is not buying.
Cartier has done some excellent brand equity building. Maybe Cadillac could do the same without resorting to the modern equivalent of boom boxes and break dancers.
it still have that weird awkard stance.
Stop all the damned talk about Me-Toing the German cars. Just build what you think is your best effort and put it on the road. Cadillac is still an icon name in America society…
