2017 Buick LaCrosse Spy Shot Reveals Opel Influence

General Motors will be busy putting its E2XX platform to work, finding many applications on incoming vehicles. The 2017 Buick LaCrosse will be one of those applications, and AutoHome has obtained a Chinese spy shot of the car, which you can see here.
The 2017 LaCrosse will grow in size on the E2XX platform, stretching its legs to make for some greater breathing room above the Buick Regal. Expect some major weight savings with the transition to the platform for the 2017 LaCrosse, judging by what Chevrolet engineers were able to accomplish with the 2016 Malibu and its weight loss. Construction should be stiffer, yet lighter.
Unlike the 2016 Malibu, however, it’s expected the 2017 LaCrosse will retain a V6 option, possibly the new LGX 3.6-liter V6 engine, while turbocharged four-cylinder are all but a certainty. Power will more than likely be sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2017 LaCrosse is expected in fall of 2016, so we should see an auto show debut in the near future.

looks new and bold
Not what I’ve been expecting. Looks a lot like those leaked Insignia pictures in the UK press just not as contoured.
The image is small so I will reserve judgement.
Would be nice if Buick could give the LaCrosse something to distinguish itself and while a new engine would be too expensive, Buick could consider dropping in GM’s L83 EcoTec3 5.3L OHV-2v V8; while this would only give a 20hp advantage over the 3.6L V6, it would give a nice throaty gurgle.
This reminds me of a more contemporary VW CC with a playing it safe Audi-like ethos.
Curious to see if this vehicle will be sold in Europe given the design, and Opel’s efforts at brushing up against luxury players at a lower price point.
It would be easy for Opel to import Lacrosse into Europe as a niche flagship. Maybe this is why Insignia will only be offered as a hatchback next time around?
Insignia sent to US, and Lacrosse sent to Europe it’s a fair trade.
The beltline still looks too high and the length could be shortened in the rear over-hang . It is impossible to see the front , but if it is elongated to match the back , it too should be bobbed . In other words , minimize the exterior and maximize the interior. This just refines the vehicle and adds to it’s presence . Leave the gaudy look to Cadillac , they still live to roll around in it , like a pig in the mud , just saying !
Own a 2009 cx Lacrosse …. Last of the 3.8’s….wish GM would bring it back
New lines look promising
it sure isn’t a Cadillac.
It is indeed apparent that Buick has lost it’s edge in obtaining the 60 and above drivers, since dropping its Flagship the Park Avenue hey have gone toward the younger generation who are more than able to stoop down and get in and out of their lower vehicles. I certainly know this as a fact being 74 years of age it has become very difficult to continue to enjoy a good riding and driving Buick, I have owned 13 new buicks since 1981, but unfortunately since they fail to acknowledge we older folks and our difficulties I probably have owned my last one.
