Maybe it’s true what LS fans say: LS swap the world for greater results. This 2004 Subaru WRX wagon owner has heeded that advice and created one gnarly build.
LSXtv originally highlighted the insane Subaru, which was almost given up on after the original engine, which was pushing 550 hp, fell victim to a rod bearing failure, and a cylinder was completely destroyed.
That’s when he decided to join the dark side, and drop an LS1 engine under the hood. But, he didn’t stop there. He added two BorgWarner 56 millimeter S200 turbochargers. It wasn’t a simple swap-and-go, though.
Building custom turbo manifolds proved to quite the challenge, and overcoming rear-differential issues with the suspension were tough but, for the love of LS, they were overcome.
Now, the owner most likely owns one of the most unique and unsuspecting Subarus in the world. That is, until it fires up, growls to life and begins whistling to the tune of turbo spool.
