There’s no denying the factory potency of the 2016 C7 Corvette Z06. But, there are options, our fellow gearheads. Like this 2002 Lingenfelter C5 Corvette Z06.
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering had a major hand in creating this one-off C5 Corvette Z06, and it has specs we could only expect from the tuning division. The custom-built LPE 5.7-liter V8 engine has been tweaked, tuned and married to a dual boost ATI supercharger system. The final result? 810 hp.
Part of that power also comes from the car’s host of other performance upgrades including the Corsa titanium competition exhaust, B&M Degree thermostat, Optima Red Top battery, Performance Flow power duct, Coupler and CAGS eliminator, Alloy Racing Ultra-Lightweight wheels, Custom disc brakes and more.
And this 2002 C5 Corvette isn’t all about the “go,” either, it has the “show” portion down pat, too. LPE finished the car in a candy apple paint hue, and installed a removable targa top via the regular C5 Corvette. C5 Z06s were not available with a targa roof. A small lip in the rear has been added, and similar cues can be seen on the inside of the car to complete the candy apple continuum.
The price? The seller has listed the car on eBay at a buy-it-now lowball of $78,500, which is supposedly much lower than the appraised value of $95,000 the LPE Corvette holds. Move quick, though, the sale ends August 10.

No, it really wouldn’t make me rethink my C7 purchase…
