The 2016 Opel Astra is poised to do big things for the brand. Other than being a large piece of Opel’s profit goals for 2016, the Astra will offer up the latest powertrain technologies, connectivity features and fuel economy to match the biggest players in Europe.
Today, though, Opel has provided an insightful video showing off the 2016 Astra’s new interior. Opel says it is the most premium interior ever crafted by the brand. Yes, it even offers massaging seats. But, Opel has really spent time to create the most connected Astra ever.
The touchscreen interface has been thought out much like a tablet, with extremely responsive interfaces. If you’ve ever experience a laggy infotainment system, you know how awful of an experience it creates. Opel also highlights the Apple CarPlay functionality packed into the car, with Android Auto coming at a later date. And, European buyers, don’t forget about Opel OnStar coming to a blitz-badged vehicle near you.

GM seems to have wised up benchmarking the interior to Audi but selling at a below VW price.

You are right but people don’t or don’t want to recognize that.
I haven’t seen the interior in real so far, so I don’t really know how the material of this interior really feels. But what I can say by looking on the Pictures and watching the videos is that there is no other compact car of any volume brand in Europe that offers such a high quality looking interior.
There is an anti-Opel bias out there, the brand has lost all snark value, even The Economist speaks of the brand doing little more than catering to rental lots.
Opel is still paying for past sins, and I still think that there is a political element on you continent.
Opel needs a blunt marketing campaign directly noting the brand’s premium attributes (compared to rivals) and bargain cost.
A car like Astra should do fantastic volume if priced accordingly.
VW has already gone out of the highest quality. VW has moved closer to the top league there, and he wants to get at any price. Premier League are mb-audi-bmw.
