Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser brand and Jimmy John’s currently split sponsorship duties on the No. 4 Chevrolet SS of Kevin Harvick in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, but that’s subject to change in 2016. The beer maker has confirmed it will switch the branding on Harvick’s No. 4 car from Budweiser to Busch for 20 of the 38 races in which it will serve as a primary sponsor.
“NASCAR continues to be a priority platform for our beer portfolio,” said Anheuser-Busch vice president for consumer connections Lucas Herscovici. “We will be shifting our brand equity in [Kevin] Harvick’s car and team from Budweiser to our Busch beer portfolio for the 2016 NASCAR season. The Busch brand is well positioned for this partnership given the brand’s storied history with the sport.”
Busch is far from new to NASCAR. The beer company served as the title sponsor for what is now the NASCAR Xfinity Series for 23 years (1984-2007), and also sponsored Cale Yarborough’s 1977 Oldsmobile once upon a time. One thing’s for certain, they picked the right driver to sponsor in their return to NASCAR, as Harvick is the reigning Sprint Cup Series champ and is again looking particularly strong this year.
