GM Foundation Gives $50,000 To Eight NPOs In Pontiac, Lake Orion Communities

The GM Foundation is back at it again, and will give $50,000 to eight non-profit groups in in the Pontiac and Lake Orion communities, reports Detroit Free Press. The cash will be distributed between the following groups:

  • Clinton River Watershed Council
  • Oakland Living Human Service Agency
  • Blessings in a Backpack
  • Winning Futures
  • Pontiac Center for Success
  • Oakland Family Services
  • Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan
  • Child Abuse & Neglect Council of Oakland County

(Each NPO will receive $6,250 if the donation is divided evenly.)

“All eight of the organizations we recognize today are making a huge impact in the quality of living, education and health in the communities where our employees work and live,” said Doug Hanly, plant manager of Orion Assembly and Pontiac Metal Center. “We are thrilled to give back to our communities in such a big way.”

The GM foundation donates money and resources to a variety of organizations and groups around the country that are committed to improving the quality of life in the communities they serve.

This year, the GM Foundation plans to provide $2-million in funding to hundreds of organizations across the country, according to GM Foundation President Lori Wingerter.

A far-too-tall Ontarian who likes to focus on the business end of the auto industry, in part because he's too tall to safely swap cogs in a Corvette Stingray.
