GM Foundation Awards $50,000 In Grants To Eight Nonprofit Organizations

The GM Foundation, which focuses heavily on supporting education, health services and community development, has announced its latest grant awards.
Eight nonprofit organizations have been selected to receive grants, totaling in $50,000. The grants were presented at the General Motors Detroit-Hamtramck assembly during the All Employee Celebration Event. The announcement follows the $50,000 in grants given to a handful of local Michigan community nonprofits.
“The GM Foundation is deeply committed to strengthening the communities that our employees call home,” said GM Foundation President Vivian Pickard. “This year, we’re providing $2 million to hundreds of organizations in 45 plant cities that provide critical resources that these communities rely on each and every day.”
The eight nonprofit organizations receiving grants are as follows:
- Alkebulan Village
- Blessings in a Backpack
- Detroit Impact
- Dream Chasers
- Green Living Science
- Neighborhood Service Organization
- Southwest Solutions
- Winning Futures
“The local organizations that we support are essential in the continued development in our communities, and through the ongoing efforts of the GM Foundation, we are proud to play a part in giving back,” said Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant Manager Gary West.
Recently, the GM Foundation also granted scholarships for $100,000 to two Kettering University students, and provided grants for local Texas community outreach programs.
