General Motors Colombia Sales Up 12 Percent To 6,156 Units In July 2015

Chevrolet dealers in Colombia reported 6,156 vehicle sales for the month of July 2015. The results represent a 12.1 percent increase compared to June 2015 and a market share of 24.1 percent. Currently, General Motors solely markets the Chevrolet brand in the South American country.

“2015 is particularly important for the company and the automotive industry with several major challenges that encourage us to continue bringing innovations in product and service to our customers all year,” said Jorge Mejia, president of GM Colmotores (translated).

The original quote (in Spanish) is as follows: “2015 es un año especialmente importante para la compañía y la industria automotriz con varios retos importantes que nos estimulan a seguir llevándole novedades en producto y en servicio a todos nuestros clientes”.

The sales stars for July 2015 were the (Gamma 2-based) Chevrolet Cobalt and Chevrolet Sonic. The Cobalt recorded 385 sales for a 64 percent increase compared to June 2015, while the Sonic posted 255 sales for a 57 percent year-over-year increase.

Other Chevy models contributing to July’s sales results included the Chevrolet Van N300 in cargo and passenger versions for a total of 239 sales, up 23 percent compared to June 2015, and the Chevrolet Dmax (Colorado/S10) pickup-up that sold a total of 164 units, up 13 percent compared to June 2015.

In addition, the five most popular Chevrolet models sold during the first seven months of 2015 included:

  • Chevrolet Sail – 10,059 sales
  • Chevrolet Spark GT – 6,342 sales
  • Chevrolet Spark Life – 5026 sales
  • Chevrolet Tracker (Trax) – 4,991 sales
  • Chevrolet Sonic – 2,051 sales
