Community Question: Which 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Variant Would You Consider Most?

We’ve had a few months to digest the immense amount of information Chevrolet has dished our way on the 2016 Camaro. We’ve been hit with new engine choices, pricing and even a preview of what Chevrolet is readying in terms of accessories for the car.
Knowing all of this, it seemed appropriate to ask you, the readers, what configuration Camaro you’re most considering should you be in the market.
To recap, the base model 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will begin at $26,695 for the LTG 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and all of its standard equipment. Pricing starts at $37,295 for the LT1 6.2-liter V8 powered SS variant, along with a host of track-ready technology.
There is also, obviously, the coupe and convertible body styles to pick between. Arguably, we feel the convertible looks much better this time around, and should provide a fantastic soundtrack with the top down regardless of the engine choice.
So we don’t overwhelm with choices in the poll, we’ll simply ask which engine you’re most interested in powering your very own 2016 Chevrolet Camaro but, do talk to us in the comments to expand on your choice and, let us know if you’d prefer the coupe or convertible.

I choose the V6 coup, I am a senior and retired ,all i want do is cruise around in my beautiful Camaro .
In this class of vehicles? The 6.2 V-8 all day everyday!!! Just like voting box says: it ain’t a Camaro without a V8!

The Pony car with the V6 has been around for decades buddy.
The 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO was V8 only. now that was killer!
Yeah, I knew that. I’m just saying, if I’m gonna even consider a car in this class, I’d look no further than the V8. The turbo 4 and NA V6 options holds me no interest whatsoever. Even in the past, the V6’s have been underwhelming and lacked the finesse of the V8. Now if GM were to offer the TT V6, then perhaps that’ll serve as a decent alternative.
And I agree: the 04-06 GTO was awesome! They’re practically collector’s items now.
I’m with you. the V8 is where it’s at. The 6s are fast indeed but they need to be modified. btw I wasn’t being too serious in my post.
Jamel one of the coolest things about the GTOs is that only about 15-20k were produced each year so they were not all over the road.
Can’t vote , no catagory for me , who is tall and long in the body . I want to see where I’m going and sometimes where I’ve been , after some pretty young thing has gone by , usually works for me . Gun slit windows , just crappy all around visibility , but hey what do I know , GM sold hundreds of thousands of these munchkins !

Planning to trade in my 2012 convertible 2LT/RS for a 2016 convertible 2SS.

For the money, I’d be going 2.0 then getting a TrifectaBNR tune, I believe it gets you 330hp and 320lb-ft (at least that’s what it is for the ATS). Black leather with the red ‘knee pads’.
Wait for the Trans Am Depot to design a Trans Am kit for the 6th gen then get the lightest variant with the V8.

SS because gas is cheap and I need a scary rumble every time I turn (push) the ignition. Also, because torque.
Silly question here as if you ask a group of enthusiast what model they would want what would you expect.
The real questions is how would you offer the Turbo 4 and V6 to get more people to buy them. To preserve this car into the future it will rely on sales of the smaller engines in more cars and this needs to grow. Even if gas remains cheap the regulations will only get worse and the V8 is only going to get more expensive.
I would be intrigued with special edition Turbo cars with a GM upgrade on them that would push them over 300 HP and 340 Ft LBS. Add some special body features and wheels and just see what it would do. That engine can do a lot more on premium only and with no internal mods go to 400 HP.
A special autocross package would be interesting I such a car. It would need sticky tires to hook up.
A lot of this depends on where you live. If you drive over the high mountain passes in Colorado at 12,000 feet above sea level the LT1 would be making 290 hp. GM says the LTG Engine has no power loss up to 12,000 feet. However if I lived where you flatlanders do I would go for the LT1.
