Chevrolet has officially announced that it will continue its sponsorship with One World Play Project (OWPP). For those who are not familiar with OWPP, it is an organization that began when inventor Tim Jahnigen witnessed deprived youth playing with a soccer ball that they had created using twine and trash.
After you’ve held that image in your mind, it’s not hard to see why Chevrolet would be willing to renew their agreement with OWPP – pledging to donate and distribute 2 million Chevrolet-branded One World Futbols by the end of 2018. So far, 1.5 million One World Futbals have been distributed across 94 countries, making a difference in about 45 million lives.
One of the aforementioned countries is Thailand, Chevrolet Thailand recently donated 2,000 balls to children in the Baan Nong Meg School in the Ubon Ratchathani province. In total, about 24,000 One World Futbols have been donated by Chevrolet to Thailand, and around 370,000 to Southeast Asia as a whole.
This gesture can remind us of some of the little things we take for granted. However, if most of your experience has been getting hit in the face with bouncy, spherical, rubber objects, then we can understand why you might have a harder time seeing the significance… and we’re sorry if that applies to you literally.
