Cadillac has a lot of work to do to rebuild its brand image, and president Johan de Nysschen is taking steps to ensure a successful future, and five percent of the luxury vehicle market by 2020.
However, during the J.P Morgan Auto Conference, de Nysschen explained Cadillac is currently in the investment phase of its rebirth, saying the brand will take a hiatus from new product, according to Automotive News.
“We’re in the investment phase,” he said. “We are preparing for the future.”
He elaborated saying the pause in new product will follow the introduction of the 2016 Cadillac XT5, which we expect to debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Cadillac has confirmed the new crossover to launch in early 2016. Following that, Cadillac will be busy readying indirect replacements for the CTS, ATS, additional crossovers and most likely a sub-ATS sized Cadillac. These incoming products won’t begin to arrive until 2018, according to de Nysschen.
During the brand’s product investment, more focus will be placed on the “Dare Greatly” marketing campaign, which has been resonating very well with millennials. Dealership experience will be a priority, too, as the brand seeks continued autonomy from General Motors.

So when will we have an alpha convertible that isn’t Camaro?
The XT5 is the last cadillac vehicle under the pervious management at cadillac. After this is when Johan’s fine work will be up for display with a product blitz meant to take on the others in the luxury field.
Going to be a dearth of sales between now and 2018!
You are correct.
By admitting really amazing stuff is coming in 2018, you’re conceding you won’t be offering really amazing stuff until 2018. Wait Greatly…
A pause is exactly what’s needed. The lackluster design seen with XT5 and CT6 speak for themselves.
Luxury brands are finally just starting to take design risks as seen with Benz and Infinity yet, at the exact same time, Cadillac has turned it’s back on Art and Science in favor of clunky, frumpy conservatism. Unique design like the CTS Coupe were tossed in favor of generic flavors.
For the sake of GM, I hope the new product is in sync with 2018.
Also one more thing does this mean no CT6 or does that not fall into this hiatus. I really hope they go through with that. And all the vsport variants across the lineup. If the xts can have a vsport model why can’t a escalade, ats, xt5, have one
CT6 already debuted and will be available in 2016 prior to the sale of the XT5.
Sorry I meant to say is that does this mean no CT6-V
So I shouldn’t buy a cts because it’s going to be over in 2 years anyways? Thanks ( puts money back in pocket sits back on bench m watches )
How is that, in the history of model life cycles, any different than how it has always been. You could wait 2 years for the next one, but oh! just wait 5 more after that because then the next gen will be out. Makes sense right?
currently they are doing alot more changes than other brands typically do from cycle to cycle.. good or bad idk good if you can buy brand new. but why would I buy a 14 CTS if the 16 has a much faster cue 8 speed and compatible to software upgrades and the previous models get 0 software upgrades?
Nobody said the CTS and ATS replacements won’t be on Alpha. We’re talking CT4/5 and CT3/4 models.
Matt
The Current CTS is a GREAT car. If you like the car and can afford it you should not hesitate.
We have a 2014 CTS4 Luxury Sedan, its our 4th CTS and we love it.
the guages on my 2010 Dts platinum look better, only Cts i could take is that premium trim… but the car is hot minus those guages
let me clarify… only CTS I could take in my price range… of course i would love to have a V but thats out of my range
The delay is more about Cadillac just having a mass of new product this year and the fact that the changes Johann has made this year being worked into the line up. It takes 2 years min for changes to be made and with the transition of this year and two years added the time line is about right.
No sense putting out anymore products not on target to where they are going. They are making money now with what they have and can soldier on till the new products are ready.
The CTS and ATS will just transition to the CT6 and CT5 names with refreshes that will make changes to the styling and up grade the interiors even more. The new Cadillac engines are till a ways out yet.
I expect more styling changes to the direction Johann wants to go and the interiors will get even more upgraded materials and even more technology.
It will be interesting to see where he takes styling moving forward. We really have had no hints to what he wants or expects yet.
Where is the CTS-V coupe? I was told there was going to be one, went in and ordered one only to be dumbfounded when finalizing the deal that the person doing the order was ordering me a SEDAN!!!! I never want a sedan! I feel tricked by his misleading me and his unprofessionalism. I have driven cadillac for years. I don’t want an ATS; it’s like a volkswagon. I want a bigger car!
It’s appalling to me that Cadillac no longer offers a Cadillac-made V-8 .Except for the Escalade and the CTS-V (Chevy powered) the onjly emgine available is a puny 3.6 liter V-6. This is thje “Standard of the World”? Yuk!
The Cadillac exclusive engines are coming, starting with the 4L twin-turbo V6. The 8 cylinder engines will come out with the CT7/8/9. I even believe the CT6 will eventually be getting an 8.
