Following the announcement of the 2016 Buick Encore Sport Touring, Buick has announced that the 2016 Verano, 2016 Regal and 2016 LaCrosse will also be graced with the Sport Touring (ST) treatment.
Not to be confused with Ford’s ST lineup, Buick’s Sport Touring models is all about show. The only exception is the 2016 Encore Sport Touring, which receives more power from its turbocharged 1.4L I4 Ecotec engine.
Each Buick Sport Touring model features 18-inch wheels with machined faces, complimented by black pockets to offset the look plus a taller lip spoiler in the rear. Buick says the Sport Touring trim was added in an effort to expand the lineup with more design focused choices.
“Buick is reaching an all-new generation of customers by reinventing itself in terms of design, function and capabilities,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick. “These new ST models underscore the importance of design choices, while complementing the safety, refinement and connectivity technologies that are drawing new customers to Buick dealerships.”
Like all 2016 model year GM vehicles, each Sport Touring Buick has standard with OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity. The equipment group also adds heated front seats, while the 2016 LaCrosse and Regal add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
Look for Buick’s 2016 Sport Touring lineup to arrive at dealerships this fall.

buick spoilers could also offer the same package as the Opel Insignia OPC line.
It actually makes a lot of looks.
buick or you can order them somewhere to the owners. regal owners may not know
I like the new wheels, a little surprised they are going with 18″ and not 19″ though. Will the Lacrosse wheels look the same as those pictured above too?
Maybe in person these changes will make a difference, but from pictures I’m seeing it’s kind of underwhelming. I’d have gone for more noticeable changes. A definitely different grill, for instance. A unique car color. Along those lines.
Interesting the Encore has got the sport treatment, wonder if this is a fully sports package (VXR / OPC) or if it’s just a warmed up version. With this in mind & hot versions of Nissan Juke & rumoured Fiat 500x performance version I wonder if a performance Mokka is in the pipeline.
While design differentiation is important, this package does not go far enough on the performance side of things. Enviable comparison will be made with Ford by using ST, and Buick shouldn’t be doing anything to endanger the premium rebranding of Buick.
A value brand like Ford producing a “better” ST than premium Buick is bad press. GM has plenty of historic options besides ST given the combined sporting legacies of Buick, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile. If needed, Buick can establish a new “sporting” convention.
You’re right, and come to think of it — it makes zero sense for Buick to suggest they have ‘sporty’ versions of cars that do not increase the ‘sportiness’ of said car via performance.
For instance — if you’re going to suggest this Verano and that Encore are more desirable via merely trim levels — admit as much. Don’t call it ‘sporty’. Call it ‘cool’ or what have you. Fiat offers a ‘lounge’ trim which infers ‘nicer’ looks but nothing else. That’s okay really.
But if Regal wants to put a fiesty engine inside, call it ‘sporty’. Because it is. (The irony, of course, is that it’s already sporty. So you’d need a more fuel efficent Regal to exist so that the current one could be called ‘sporty’. Very confusing.)
And you start to wonder why no Enclave Sports Touring lol
Wow. A sporty Walmart On Wheels! 😉
I wonder what will it even look like lol
Buick is the GM brand that MUST get everything right given it’s linkage to GMC. Together, they have could create a powerhouse capable of taking back the coasts.
Pontiac did this same wannabe sport silliness.
Well the changes are not great here as this car is on the way out.
Not long after we get the new Lacrosse next year we will also see the Regal replaced. What this amounts to is just a value package added with a minor refresh to send this car to the fleet sales when the new model comes out. We saw this with the Nox, Cruze and other GM cars in their final years.
The deal here is they are not going to invest heavily in a car that has a limited future here. The added value items will buy some time till the new car on the new platform is ready.
This is just the old Buick fading away as the new post Chapter 11 is just entering the market. Folks this is really an old car counting the Opel years.
Buick needs a sporty car to have the other Buickmodels aspire to. At least then all the “all show, no go” parts on other models adhere to at least a overall consisten design theme.
Instead, dusting off some old Pontiac parts and or adding a black grille doesn’t make it sporty and is pretty pathetic.
Only for show as opposed to Ford who actually offer a more sprightly engine /drivetrain handling pkg with their sport models . Sorry but I think the sales of these ” only for show sports models ” …..will be just that , ONLY FOR SHOW !! you know , people shop around before buying , can you imagine a person going from testing a Ford Sports model and then comparing it to one of these FOR SHOW Buick sports models , in the same market segment ?? The buyers for the Sports models will tend to be the younger professional , and Buick will offer him or her a For Show product . This has to be the worst , lame news I’ve heard out of Buick for the past year .
opel mokka has to OPC-LINE spoilers packet
