As for the two 20″ wheel deletions, does that leave the machined 20″ wheels as the lone 20’s?
So no 360 degree camera with new trucks?
Yupp, no push-button start… no 360-degree cameras. Though there’s always 2017…
So no push button start?
Is turning a key really that hard?
I don’t mind it, but it’s already offered on the SUVs so why not on the trucks?
Hoffa — turning a key isn’t “hard”. But if we pose the question like that, then one could also ask:
Is plugging a cable into your phone really that hard? (wireless phone charging)
Is cranking your own window really that hard (power windows)
Is locking your tailgate really that hard? (power-locking tailgate)
Today, more than ever before, vehicles are becoming more about convenience and serves as a form of differentiation (how does Chevy or GMC set itself apart from Ford or Ram?). And few would argue that push-button start is more convenient than turning a key… or rather, fumbling for the key, procuring it, fumbling for the ignition slot, sticking it in, and only THEN turning it. Pushing a button to start the car is especially at the $55,000 Sierra Denali or Silverado High Country price.
It’s not turning the key, it’s having to also carry the key. Push-button start is old technology. Why wouldn’t they include it on their top-of-the-line truck?
Although I like the Denali’s looks I just wish GM would drop the 6.2L V-8 under the hood . That would complete the package .
The Denali’s are available with the 6.2 hey.
Indeed. The 6.2L L86 V8 is available in the Sierra, Denali or otherwise.
The 6.2 is not available in the Denali HD.
I have the new 6.2 and I guess having all that power and torque isn’t what everyone can handle. Yah chevy drop the 420 horse tuned down corvette engine in a pick up. Come on people wake up. Maybe you better sign onto the eco jokes.
I love and drive GM trucks, but I guess they just will never give us everything in these 60k trucks! Yes—push button start, 360 cameras, panoramic moon roof, sporty console shifter, etc,etc and then some in order to beat out Ford! If I Were in charge at GM I would want to know why the F150 still has wow factor over the Denali. And yes, it still has things a Denali doesn’t. The biggest eco boost v6 will beat the 6.2 Denali. Car and driver says F150 rides better than Denali despite it having magnetic ride control. And hello! Give us a console shifter option! Ford F-150 remains the biggest badest truck out there and the designers of GM trucks give Ford this gift every year. I bet Ford loves GM more than anyone because for years GM has allowed them to out gun them in ever way. Once again, a new revision and GM did a half job. I just never understand it. Ford, BMW, even Dodge continue to give it all every time, but GM thinks they don’t have to follow. Thing is they never really lead… Good looking truck, but it’s missing the emenities that make Fords great and other things that could set it above all others.
Can someone please explain to me why fans of the Ecoboost keep saying it can beat the GM 6.2? It’s all preference…and I prefer the V8 rumble and power…not the V6 whizzing.
Just sold my old Ford F150 and am trying to figure out if I want to replace it with the GMC Sierra or Ford F150. They both would be great. One of the features I do like about the Sierra is that with the steering column shifter, you have tons of console storage. On the other hand, the F150 comes with a push button start so I don’t have to fumble with keys, and also have the keypad on the door so I can get in if my keys (and phone) are elsewhere… I test drove the Dodge Ram, and didn’t really like the knob shifter, but I guess you just have to get used to it. Bottom line is that different people like the different amenities so it’s hard to please everybody unless it comes as an option.
And if I might add…The interior in the Ram Laramie is what one might expect the interior in the Denali to look like. Folks, this is a 60K truck that has no floorboard lighting or adaptive cruise control! GM designers! Hello! Down here…you were supposed to design a world class truck. What are you thinking? Call me crazy, but you can’t tell me I’m making this stuff up. Spot on!
I have a little clarification of the color offerings for the Sierra Denali HD.. The colors that are available on the Denali HD series are as follows:
Light steel grey metallic
Stone blue metallic
Cardinal red
Deep garnet metallic
Summit white
Onyx black
Iridium metallic
So instead of Crimson Red Tintcoat, Cardinal Red seems to be what is being offered.
GM has finally convinced me to not purchase a Sierra 1500 SLE. I did the test drive on a 2015 but chose to wait and factory order a 2016. I did a Build & Price and was insulted by the price increases for paint colors and other options. I was also reminded of numerous complaints by owners of the 2014 and 2015 Sierra including the Denali. Erratic, harsh tranny shifts with disturbing suspension vibration and low headlight visibility are a repeat complaint. Dealers are claiming these should be considered normal and to give the truck time to get used to your driving habits. These problems are too frequent to ignore and I am not willing to spend $40K on this lackluster vehicle.
Ford 150s have front cameras… It’s the number 1 thing i’m waiting for.. If 2017 doesn’t have it, i’m selling my 2015 Denali and going to Ford.
The 6.2L in the 1500 does in fact have more power but it is reached at a much higher RPM than the 6.0L in the HD’s. The nature in the use of a 2500/3500HD is that the truck is going to be used to tow or carry higher payloads. The peak power is achieved in the 6.0L at a much lower, more useable RPM than the higher reving 6.2L. When you are pulling a 12,500 lb. trailer you need all your power in the low RPM range to overcome the gravity / inertia to get up to speed. Most people use the 1500 series as a daily driver with a high % of owners rarely towing much more than 2 or 3 times a year, if that. The 6.2L offers this market a high performance V8 that can tow your sub 9,100lb trailer when you need to and give you excellent power as a daily driver when you want street performance and the grin that comes out at 5,000 rpm’s…
If you ask me the 6.2 could use a HP increase. The performance the 6.2 puts out should be the V8 standard and Denali should have more. Consider that a lot more of the Fords, even the less optioned models get the ecoboost and it will destroy the 5.3 and right with the premium 6.2.
Ford just announced they will increase HP and torch for 2017 in the ecoboost. GM has made no mention but I suspect they have to tune the 6.2 to compete. Ford is very hard to beat these days when it comes to trucks or even cars. Ford is not playin around. They cause GM to follow them and that does anything but generate confidence in the GM brand. GM you do it to yourself so if you don’t like what ford does to you then get off your bums and out engineer and design Ford! I’ve seen you chase ford for many years so appears you’re right where you want to be….#2.
What is this sites opinion on dropping the “WDT” and bringing in the “FROST tricoat???
I like the frost white better as the white diamonds was more of a color a female might want. The frost white is just as nice, but lost the pink sheen. I will select the frost on my next truck if GM will begin to add the things desired by this truck market and refine and resolve the mechanical issues they are seeing. If your trucks are hard shifting and clunking, you resolve it, not deny it! How smart is that? Have you not figured out that truck customers are the most demanding and smartest customer? You can’t slide a truck guy for very long before he dumps you for your competition!
