In July, Chevrolet showed off the refreshed 2016 Silverado 1500, without providing any details outside of the fact that the truck will get a new fascia and LED lights along with “new customer-focused technologies”. Luckily, Chevy has just released the full order guide for the 2016 Silverado, revealing the specific changes for its family of full-size trucks.
To start, the 2016 Chevy Silverado deletes five colors while adding three new ones:
Deleted Colors
- White Diamond Tricoat
- Deep Ruby Metallic
- Victory Red
- Brownstone Metallic
- Rainforest Green Metallic
New Colors
- Siren Red Tintcoat
- Red Hot Exterior color
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
In addition, the 2016 Silverado deletes the driver alert package along with the two grilles (one body-color and the other chrome with chrome surround) from the 2014 and 2015 model. Then, the 2016 Silverado refresh goes on to add a slew of features, including:
- Seven-inch color touchscreen IOB MyLink system (replaces the IO4 Radio)
- HD radio, which was deleted for 2015 Silverado, returns for the IO5 and Io6 MyLink systems
- In-vehicle wireless device charging for smartphones
- Remote Locking tailgate
- High beam assist (on the driver alert package)

Comments
So they are taking away five very attractive color options and providing three new colors? Did I read that right?
That’s correct — 5 existing colors are going away, 3 new ones are being added in their place.
Also – when does GM update their website so that the 2016’s are referenced with these new options?
Whenever it’s ready and/or a few weeks before they start to arrive at dealers. It’s a timing thing more than anything else.
I want to hear 8-speed across the board for the 4.3 V-6 and the 5.3 V-8. This would give the GM trucks much needed boost to improve their sales.
They should really put the HID headlamps on the trucks!
If they don’t announce the 4.5L Duramax for the Silverado/Sierra, I’m going to be SORELY disappointed, as will a lot of people, I’m sure. They’ve had the 6.6 in the HD trucks for years (which have been hugely popular), now they have the 2.8 for the Colorado/Canyon, which I’m sure will be enough to sway some people away from a half ton, so why wouldn’t they do the 4.5L in these??? They’d have the best, most complete and cohesive truck lineup around!
Is push button start available and what’s in the enhanced driver alert package?
Nope, no bush-button start.
That’s honestly beyond stupid. Ram and Ford have it but why not GM? I’ve heard stories where sales have fell threw because it’s not an option. Why, because guys who wear jeans and have gloves on and there pockets full don’t like fumbling for there keys. Makes sense to me.
You mean to say tight pant wearing dudes who shouldnt be driving trucks anyways
Are the wheel options remaining the same?
Yes, with the exception of the new 20″ chrome-clad ones.
Looks like the 8 speed and the LED tail lights are only for the LTZ and High Country models
You have to keep Victory Red, even if it is just a new name, it’s tradition, just like Onyx Black, and Summit White, the three easiest colours to touch up, and care for, due to them being plain old non metallics.
I love my 2014 deep ruby metallic Silverado. I think it’s stupid that your getting rid of it. And I aslo think its stupid that your changing the front clip. The stacked headlights look amazing. Just like in the 80’s. Don’t do what you think people will like. Take a vote of the people first. Just my opinion.
I agree. The front end on 2014-2015 look flight. They look like a truck. But people who rate cars said the design wasn’t a big enough change. So they changed it to please car magazine writers, instead of the men who drive their trucks. So they get rid of stacked lights, then don’t know what to do, so they throw some led lights on the front in some random haphazard way. It just looks thrown on and looks ridiculous. Guys, trucks don’t need fancy girly led lights all over them. What is with GM and all the led lights?! Ram and Ford aren’t doing this, cuz they know men want their trucks to look like trucks, not fancy designer vehicles. Stupid!
That should say tough, not flight. Bad autocorrect. And Ford and Ram do have some led but they don’t stand out near as much. Front of 2016 Silverado is thrown together. Bring back 2014-2015 front clip. Especially the Z-71 front!
Did the Rain Forest green not sell? The reason they are getting rid of it? They keeping the same blue?
Id like a ZL1 2 door pick up is that poss or never
Any photos yet of the 2016 Silverado LT Z71? I saw one photo but not sure it was the LT. Was a 2016 Metallic dark red with a black front grill. Looked sharp and it did have the new front headlights. Im already seeing 2016 Ford explorer commercials and yet nothing on the 2016 silverados.
I would like to see the color crystal red metallic paint for the trucks.
I’d love to see a smaller diesel in the 1500’s. Not everyone is interested in an HD or the $8k+ 6.6L option. Also must have an 8 speed throughout.
-please stop putting highway tires on the Z71’s – it’s a crime.
-please stop lowering the front end on Z71’s. I get the off road package for the capabilities, not fuel economy.
Signed,
A life long GM Truck owner
Is anyone else bothered by how the front looks now? I can’t stand the hyper futuristic/hip headlights and LED lights of the F-150 and now the Silverado is getting them. I’m pretty upset. I was considering trading in my 2014 for a 2016 but I might keep it or just go with a 2015. Or I might just be a hipster and start riding a bicycle instead.
On a serious note, does anyone know if the 2014/2015 grille will be available as an option on the 2016? I like the technology upgrades a lot.
Totally agree with you. It’s a truck!! Doesn’t need fancy designer crap to please magazine writers who don’t even buy them. I love my 2015!! Was just hoping trans would be upgraded for whenever I traded in after lease. It should look like a truck, not a Christmas tree!
Got to say I love my 2014 silverado, but the new 2016 looks good just hope they add push button start, hid lights and rear ac for crew cabs. That be the only way I upgrade to a new truck from gm
FUgly as hell. The grill on the 14-15 looks great and uniquely Chevy. It was the best design they had in over 20 yrs. This looks absolutely horrible.
And why did GM Screw up GMC? They had a great look too but now they look “fake” and plastic overkill. The gmc badge looks off center. Overall they crashed this design and handed more sales to others. Even the new Titan looks better than this crap. With cummins diesel and a cheaper price point they aren’t going to have trouble selling.
I have filled out surveys and even talked to their DISTRICT REP. ABOUT THEIR CRUMMY CHOICE OF COLORS and no one cares.
FORD AND EVEN CHRYSLER,have a lot better exterior colors as well as interior choices.AND GM STILL HAS TO KEEP RAISING THEIR PRICES.For the MOST part your ONLY INTERIOR COLORS ARE GRAY AND BLACK.I AM TIRED OF THE SAME OLD COLORS ,AND NONE OF THE big shots care what we think.
I am switching back over to FORD TILL THEY CHANGE THINGS.I URGE PEOPLE TO WRITE LETTERS AND COMPLAIN .The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and the only way to get their attention is CHANGE BRANDS FOR AWHILE.
I have bought 11 new vehicles from my dealer, but it time to change.IF FORD AND CHRYSLER CAN DO BETTER SO CAN G.M
Wish I could still special order the Rainforest green.
