Back in late May, we pulled the wraps off the RPO-level changes and updates headed for the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette. There were tons of tantalizing goodies like four new wheels choices, decal packages, exposed carbon fiber weave hood inserts, three new design packages, a new flat-bottomed steering wheel on all models, the option of selecting Magnetic Ride Control without the Z51 package, and loads more.
We immediately tried to configure our own on the Chevrolet website but, alas, the website wasn’t updated with 2016 Corvette information. Finally, the day has come and Chevrolet has dropped the 2015 model year in favor of the 2016 details, adding loads of information on the new 2016 Corvette Stingray and 2016 Corvette Z06 to its main page.
Best of all, Chevrolet took the time to add a configurator, allowing potential buyers to customize and coordinate their Corvette until their hearts are content. However, it appears Chevrolet is still ironing out some kinks: Choose a Z06 with 2LZ or 3LZ trim and the interior build section turns black.
You can even configure your own C7.R Edition, which we found by selecting the 19″ x 10″ front/20″x 12″ black aluminum wheels with yellow stripes. A sub-menu then pops up, requiring you to select the package. Curiously, Chevrolet asks buyers to “See Dealer For Pricing,” which could be an indication it has managed to move many of them for more than the MSRP of $111,400.
Check out the Corvette configurator here and then let us know how you’d spec one out.
