2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss: Hot Or Not?

Chevrolet pulled the veil off on the 2016 Colorado Z71 Trail Boss yesterday and since then we’ve had time time to dig through the photo gallery and suss out our favorite bits.
First of all, we’re huge fans of the sport bar with LED lighting and the big fender flares. Elsewhere, the new 17-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in aggressive Goodyear Wrangler Duratec 265/65R17 tires seem to fill the arches well, being that it’s an off-road focused truck and all.
Little touches like the ‘Colorado’ lettering emblazoned on the accessory sport bar is a nice touch and reminiscent of the Ricky Carmichael Chevrolet Colorado SEMA Concept. The black bowtie badge, and the Trail Boss’ beefy sidesteps, also help round out the visual punch.
Plus, you can order it in both crew cab and extended body styles with either 2WD or 4WD, and can even be paired with the new 2.8L Duramax engine. But it’s no Colorado ZR2 Concept.
Ultimately, we want to hear from you on how you feel about this new Chevy sport truck. Have a go at our new poll, and continue the conversation in the comment section below.

Should’ve thrown on a 1.5″ lift-level. Cost is minimal but effect is substantial for a from factory truck. And even rims with a slightly positive offset (like even just 1/2″ each side) to give it a more aggressive wide stance.
I agree Andrew. Maybe even 2.5″ leveling suspension. Get rid of the front air dam and put a skid plate on it. Also larger and wider tires! This looks good, but it has a sport truck feel, not a “trail” one.
typo fix for ya. its goodyear wrangler duratrac and the size is 265/65r17 not 265/64/17
This really just looks like things somebody who lives up a gravel road in the northern part of the US would do to their truck to make it more winter friendly. Not saying I don’t like it, but depending on added cost, I think I’d rather have a straight up Colorado and just put a real nice all terrain tire all around.
Good looking truck. Now give us the ZR2 off-road package.
Still holding out for the ZR2, but if GM confirmed they won’t build it – or at least not with the diesel, I would be perfectly fine with this, and eventually an aftermarket suspension kit.
I bet MSRP will be around $45k for this S10.
It’s literally a spitting image of the Chevrolet Colorado Sport Concept shown at SEMA 2014 which I loved, and hoped that it would become a Product. Chevrolet is taking a really good approach into Custom Edition Cars, taking a hit at Chrysler/Fiat with Dodge & Jeep with their custom edition cars.
