Will Power Hit With $25K Fine From IndyCar After Shoving Safety Worker

Not surprisingly, IndyCar came forward this week with multiple penalties for various teams and drivers following the dramatic MAVTV 500 at Fontana last weekend.

The most significant of these penalties is Will Power’s $25,000 fine for improper conduct after he pushed a safety worker following his wreck with AJ Foyt driver Takuma Sato. Power later Tweeted that he apologized to the safety worker in person and said he was “extremely upset,” at the time.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing was also fined $10,000 after driver Graham Rahal left his pit box with a fuel hose still attached, spilling fuel all over his section of pit lane. Also notable was Tristan Vautier’s $10,000 fine for hitting one of his Dale Coyne Racing pit crew members with his car. It was the third time a DCR pit crew member had been hit so far this season.
