Watch The 2016 C7 Corvette Z06 Murder Virginia International Raceway: Video

Holy. Cow. Those were the first two words after seeing video evidence of a 2015 C7 Corvette Z06 making a 2:41.3 lap at Virginia International Raceway. If you have no point of reference for that time, let’s pass you this information: a Porsche 918 lapped the track in 2:43.1, according to Car and Driver (click here for video) and their Lighting Lap data.

So, how does a measly 2015 C7 Z06 run quicker than a 918? As the kids like to say, “driver mod.” The driver piloting the 2015 Corvette Z06 here is Jim Mero, one of the Corvette team’s hottest drivers. The man has spent more time in the C7 Z06 than any one of us could imagine. He knows the ins and outs of this car like it’s ABCs.

Therefore, he’s able to cut, brake, shift and push the car harder than any driver. Even with Mero’s near perfection, he actually misses a shift at one point, which may have cost him a 2:40 lap time. Nonetheless, it’s impressive, borderline awesome. Have a look at the run above as recorded by the Corvette Z06’s Performance Data Recorder.

  1. I do not like those stupid fights, GM is mistaken.

Corvette is a wonderful car, no need to be 1 second faster than the other necessarily, GM manages its Corvette engine problems; That makes happier to lovers than circuit fights
