There was, as always, some seriously impressive metal the Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 25 to 28) this year, including the European debut of the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro.
Further to our point, we recently stumbled across (read: caught in a YouTube whole and eventually found) this video of BJ Baldwin chucking his fully custom Monster Energy Trohpy Truck up the 1.16-mile Hillclimb course.
It wears gen-two Silverado head lights stickers up front, but Baldwin’s Trophy Truck is pretty much a Silverado in name only, as it packs a fuel-injected 485 cubic-inch V8 producing around 800-1,000 hp.
Known as “Ballistic BJ Baldwin”, the man behind the wheel is a five-time national off-road champion who boasts more than 17-years of off-road racing experience. You may also remember him from his now-famous ‘Recoil 2’ video from last year.
It’s an absolute hoot to watch the truck buck and dive under hard braking and acceleration, but our favourite moment has to be at the 0:31-second mark when Baldwin drifts it within inches of the straw bale barriers.
Check out all angry, drifty, smoky action below.
